I am the Prehospital Liaison Nurse and a Certified Emergency Nurse in Palm Springs, California. Working at a Level II Trauma Center, a STEMI Center and a Stroke Center has given me a broad and dynamic nursing skillset. I am always looking for opportunities to expand my knowledge base. I graduated from California State University, San Bernardino, and I truly enjoyed this wonderful opportunity to grow my education. During school I had the distinct pleasure to serve as a leader in the student nurses' organization on campus. During my time at CSUSB I was afforded several opportunities, including presenting research at two universities in South Korean, working with the American Nurses Association at the California Political Lobbying Day event, and serving as the president of the campus Nursing Students’ Association.
Though my formal education came a little later in life I believe my success can be attributed to three things: First is my invaluable experience as a paramedic – a position that has allowed me to impact lives, to be an active participant in life and death moments, and given me both wonderful and gut-wrenching memories. It's a job I will always hold fondly in my heart. Second, the time I spent in the US Air Force, and their core values of integrity, service before self, and excellence helped to refine my personal beliefs and informed my emergence as a successful student. Finally, my family has provided me with tremendous support and has strengthened my perseverance.
My first year as a nurse has presented several challenges; transitioning from my longtime roll as a paramedic and the COVID-19 pandemic have made my experience unique. I'm enjoying my career as a nurse, and am excited to serving on the Emergency Department Leadership Team. As is set my sites on the horizon I am excited to see where my path leads and for the new chances to serve people.
I enjoy spending my free time with my wife and children; camping, hiking with my sons, sailing, or relishing the chance to attend a basketball or baseball game.
